embody BURLESQUE

Classes focus heavily on the mind-body connection (somatics), building a strong dance foundation (technique), improvisation and partial choreography. Warm ups focus on breath, strength and conditioning. Drills vary from meditative flow drills, shimmy drills, technique drills and embodiment practice.

What Are Classes Like?

Bloom House Burlesque classes focus primarily on somatics, strong dance technique, poise, play, embodiment work, improv work and short choreographies. Strip tease is partially included. We always encourage packing gloves, stockings and a robe in your dance bag!

Class warm ups and choreography are inspired by ballet, bellydance, theater jazz, heels dance and more. We cover all different styles of cabaret and rotate the focus each session. Stretching and conditioning always included.

We do not have a dress code! You can wear as little or as much as you want, as long as you are comfortable and can move freely.  We definitely encourage sassy things that make you feel grounded and sexy. We're all about letting your inner diva out to play. Your outfit affects your confidence so don’t be shy! Heels are optional. Dance heels only. No street heels! Bare feet, tights or socks work too!

The average class size is anywhere from 10-18 people. Mostly all female clients with an age range of mid twenties to fifties.

TESTIMONIALS

BHB Philosophy

COMMUNITY OVER COMPETITION.

PLAY OVER PRESSURE.

AUTHENTICITY OVER EGO.

Our offerings and classes emphasize the whole person, working from the inside out as well as the outside in; Learning dance and burlesque as a lifestyle; Moving this medicine beyond the classroom.

Burlesque is an individualized art form so while it's fun, sexy and supports fitness, it also encourages your unique voice, or "essence" to come through. While the sessions may have some traditional dance class feels, it's simultaneously nothing like a traditional dance class. We are all about community over competition. Play over pressure. Authenticity over ego.

Bloom House supports dance education, personal and artistic development and performance opportunity. Preserving the legacy of this art form while maintaining a standard of quality is something we value. Students interested in artistic growth and performance should consider long term classes and mentorship.

These classes are far from a one-dimensional experience. Many of our students experience life changing breakthroughs in their confidence, sensuality and even their jobs and roles in life (we've had lots of clients go through big life changes)!

This is part of the magic of dance, burlesque, community and prioritizing YOU. We not only aim to elevate the art form, we aim to elevate you! By helping you connect into your body, your pleasure and your power, we create new pathways for self discovery, self love, empowerment, friendships and personal growth. There is magic in taking up space and feeling safe in your body. Magic in being witnessed. Magic in sensuality. We break the cycles and awaken to the energy that says I AM HERE. I am ME. I am MAGNIFICENT. Embodied burlesque cannot be contained in a classroom. It's something we carry with us always.

Your dance shoes should be exactly the size of your foot (snug), soft soled and either a character heel, latin dance heel or dance boot. You can try Dance + Sway, Capezio or Bloch, JJ's House or Discount Dance. The best heels on the market (and my boots that everyone asks about!) are made by La Duca. If your not sure of your size you may want to test some brands out at our local dance shop Empire Dance. Always check the manufacturer's size chart - you often need to size down a half to full size. *Dance heels cannot be worn as street shoes. SHOES ARE NOT REQUIRED and not recommended if you are brand new.

6 week all level burlesque sessions are $125

Private coaching starts at $150 an hour and is designed for serious minded students. Prices differ for on-going mentorship

Private parties and classes begin at $300/hr and are usually taught at the studio. Travel expenses may apply if off site is preferred. You may book private sessions at the studio with a group of at least 5 for up to 6 weeks. I no longer offer one-off private lessons but I do offer 1:1 mentorship for serious minded dancers/artists. I will never accept all male party requests or gigs.
Yes! Monday + Tuesdays classes are ALL LEVEL meaning beginners are welcome! The class material is adaptable to those with experience as well.

Definitely not! You are welcome to step out of the choreo or step off camera when we are filming in class. While we do have a sign-off for this in our waiver, always  communicate any concerns with being filmed to the teacher.
